1982 Silver Wedding 2007
Mark and Jacky |
|
|
|
Back in Nineteen Seventy One,
Their days at high school just begun
Mark and Jacky were unsure
Of what the future held in store;
For children of their tender age
Had not yet reached the romance stage;
The pair were just good friends. |
They'd holiday both far and wide,
O'er many a foreign countryside
And all the children soon would find
That travel does enlarge the mind.
And this may be as no surprise:
It really strengthens family ties.
Without them, they'd get lost. |
|
|
|
And then at fifteen years of age
When golf, for Mark, was all the rage,
Jacky followed close behind
With all his clubs. She didn't mind.
For six long weeks she had to wait
For Mark to ask her for a date,
And then he made amends. |
Apart from two years in Japan
(They really are a trav'ling clan)
They lived in England all their lives,
But then in two thousand and five
They crossed the wide and bounding foam
To make Australia their home,
However much the cost. |
|
|
|
For seven years the two ‘walked out'
And in their minds there was no doubt
That some day they would married be;
Two souls in perfect harmony.
And then in Nineteen Eighty Two,
With family and friends to view,
This happy pair were wed. |
Some threads of life I'll now unravel
We know how Mark just loves to travel.
Perhaps there's gypsy in the blood.
He has a love of foreign food,
And yet he will get quite irate
If you put cous cous on his plate
That food he cannot take. |
|
|
|
Oh joy, oh rapture, love divine!
Said Mark to Jacky, "You are mine!"
But then they learned ‘twas on this day
That Jacky's sister passed away.
This made their memories bitter sweet,
Although their lives were now complete
And they could look ahead. |
Mark loves his golf and soccer too;
A thorough sportsman tried and true.
To miss a game would be a sin,
Unless the Tott'nam hotspurs win.
But if they lose you'll hear him cheer
And have another glass of beer,
To help him celebrate. |
|
|
|
For six years nothing could go wrong
And then the children came along.
They welcomed four into the fold
And mostly they were good as gold
Before each child had barely grown,
Upon a plane each child had flown
O'er Mountains, sand and sea. |
Darling Jacky loves to dine,
Enjoys a glass of decent wine,
Loves to socialise with friends,
And happiness that never ends.
She gives to Mark all her support
In all he does; a real good sport,
Great mother, wife and friend. |
|
|
|
The first was Darren, then Michelle;
She's back in England for a spell.
The next was Natalie so sweet
Then Adam made the clan complete.
The Linter tribe then numbered six
Three girls, three boys, an even mix
A happy family. |
So that's the story of their life
An ideal husband, loving wife.
Despite the problems, trials and fears,
Together twenty five great years.
There'll be another twenty five
One thing is sure, love will survive
On that you can depend. |
